  4. Tóm tắt các kết quả mới của luận án:

Nghiên cứu kết hợp giữa Thuyết hình ảnh đa phương thức (Multimodal Image Theory) và Ẩn dụ tri nhận mở rộng (Extended Conceptual Metaphor Theory) nhằm giải thích hiện tượng chuyển nghĩa của “over, above, under, below” từ nghĩa không gian sang nghĩa phi không gian. Các kết quả mới của luận án là:

(i). Điển cảnh của bốn từ “over, above, under, below” cấu thành trục dọc phân bổ vị trí tương đối giữa vật mốc (Landmark – LM) và đạo tử (Trajector -TR). Với above và below, đạo tử không nhất thiết phải nằm trong phạm vi của vật mốc. Điều quan trọng là sự khu biệt và khoảng cách giữa hai vật thể. Đối với under và over, đạo tử cần nằm trong phạm vi của vật mốc, và hai vật thể có thể tiếp xúc.

(ii) Ba thức không gian của bốn từ là không gian Hình ảnh (Visual space), không gian Chuyển động (Kinetic), và không gian Đảo (Maneuver space). Nghĩa không gian của bốn từ được sắp xếp trong ba thức và chúng tôi đã chứng minh được là nghĩa của bốn từ có mối quan hệ mật thiết và việc chuyển di nghĩa có thể được truy vết bằng khung dựa vào hình ảnh. Điều này có nghĩa là mỗi trường hợp sử dụng của bốn từ có thể được giải thích nếu ta dựa vào cách tiếp cận hình ảnh-lược đồ.

(iii) Nghĩa phi không gian của bốn từ liên quan mật thiết đến ẩn dụ tri nhận. Chúng tôi đã tìm ra sự chuyển di nghĩa từ nghĩa không gian & phi ẩn dụ đến nghĩa không gian & ẩn dụ, nghĩa phi không gian & ẩn dụ.

(iv) Việc phân tích nghĩa phi không gian của bốn từ, theo bốn lớp: không gian tinh thần – miền/ khung – hình ảnh lược đồ – ẩn dụ, chỉ ra rằng ẩn dụ tri nhận coi khái niệm trừu tượng như những thực tể sống, và ánh xạ cấu trúc của kinh nghiệm thực lên trải nghiệm trừu tượng.

  1. Khả năng ứng dụng trong thực tiễn:

Kết quả nghiên cứu có thể ứng dụng để thiết kế một khóa học trong đó trọng tâm giúp người học tiếng Anh hiểu cách sử dụng nghĩa không gian và phi không gian của bốn từ và phân biệt hai cặp từ đồng nghĩa “over-above”, “under-below”.

  1. Những hướng nghiên cứu tiếp theo:

Trước hết, chúng tôi có thể áp dụng khung lý thuyết để giải nghĩa và việc chuyển nghĩa của giới từ trong tiếng Anh nhằm giúp người học thụ đắc ngữ nghĩa của giới từ tiếng Anh tốt hơn

Hướng nghiên cứu tiếp theo là đối chiếu bốn từ với các từ/ biểu thức biểu đạt tương đương khả dĩ trong tiếng Việt. Điều này có thể khám phá sự khác biệt về mặt văn hóa, đặc biệt là khi phân tích nghĩa không gian của bốn từ.

Cuối cùng, sự chuyển nghĩa của bốn từ trong thành ngữ sẽ được khảo sát. Chúng tôi cho rằng nghiên cứu này là nền tảng do nghĩa không gian của giới từ vẫn được lưu giữ trong ngữ cảnh trừu tượng.

xổ số miền bắc study exploits a hybrid framework of Multimodal Image Theory and Extended Conceptual Metaphor Theory to account for meaning transference of four words “over, above, under, below” from spatial to non-spatial ones. xổ số miền bắc remarks of xổ số miền bắc study are:

(i). xổ số miền bắc proto-scenes of xổ số miền bắc four words “over, above, under, below” constitute xổ số miền bắc vertical axis which designates xổ số miền bắc relative contact between xổ số miền bắc TR and xổ số miền bắc LM. In xổ số miền bắc case of Above and below, xổ số miền bắc TR is not necessarily within xổ số miền bắc scope of LM extension. What should be taken into account is xổ số miền bắc uniqueness and absence of contact between xổ số miền bắc two entities. In xổ số miền bắc case of under and Over, xổ số miền bắc TR must be within xổ số miền bắc scope of xổ số miền bắc LM extension, and xổ số miền bắc TR and LM are in potential contact.

(ii). Three spatial modalities of thought of xổ số miền bắc four words are Visual space, Maneuver space, and Kinetic space. xổ số miền bắc spatial meanings of xổ số miền bắc four words are found in xổ số miền bắc three modalities, and it is proved that xổ số miền bắc polysemy of xổ số miền bắc four words is closely related and their transference can be traced back by adopting an image-schema based frame. This means that each instance of use of xổ số miền bắc four words could be explained if we adopt an image-based approach based on xổ số miền bắc prototypical meaning coded by a pair of image complexes.

(iii). xổ số miền bắc non-spatial meanings of xổ số miền bắc four words are attached to a range of conceptual metaphors. We have explored a systematic change from purely spatial & non-metaphorical meanings to spatial & metaphorical meanings, and non-spatial & metaphorical meanings of xổ số miền bắc four words. xổ số miền bắc results of xổ số miền bắc analysis once again reaffirm xổ số miền bắc hypothesis that non-spatial meanings are spatially grounded on experiential basis.

(iv). xổ số miền bắc analysis of non-spatial meanings of xổ số miền bắc four words, in xổ số miền bắc four-layered direction: mental space – domain/ frame and image – schema, shows that these metaphors relate abstract notions conceived as concrete entities, and map xổ số miền bắc structure of concrete experiences onto abstract experience.

(v). xổ số miền bắc overall mechanism for meaning transference is image-schema transformation; however, in certain cases, xổ số miền bắc purport or meaning potential of xổ số miền bắc word accounts for their usages.

xổ số miền bắc results of xổ số miền bắc research can be exploited to design a course in which xổ số miền bắc focus is to help learners of English understand how xổ số miền bắc four words are used spatially and non-spatially, and differentiate two synonymous pairs “over-above”, “under-below”.

  1. Further research directions, if any:

Firstly, we could apply these results to explain how xổ số miền bắc four words are used for English language learners systematically so that they could acquire xổ số miền bắc semantics of xổ số miền bắc four words and English prepositions better.

xổ số miền bắc second direction is to make a contrastive analysis of xổ số miền bắc four words with their equivalents in Vietnamese. This may also explore how xổ số miền bắc two languages differ culturally, especially when dealing with non-spatial uses of xổ số miền bắc four words.

Last but not least, xổ số miền bắc meaning transference of xổ số miền bắc four words in idiomatic expression should be investigated. We suppose that xổ số miền bắc basis of this study can help build a foundation for such an analysis because prepositions are proved to retain spatial meanings in their abstract contexts of use.
